Mission Area Vestry meeting 30 April 2017
This was held at Llanelidan and, having driven around the village a few times, I finally discovered the church by following a car with two ladies in it who looked like 'church ladies'! The field opposite the church provided a car park for the large number of cars.
The church was pretty full of people from all thirteen churches and the Llan Band provided the most lovely accompaniment to the hymns - how I wish we could have them more often at St Peter's. The service was most uplifting with all three priests taking part and a reader (whose name I do not know) leading our intercessions. In the middle of the service the Churchwardens were asked to stand, followed by members of the Church Committees and the Mission Area Conference, all of whom affirmed their commitment to their roles within the Mission Area and their own churches
Revd Richard preached on the story of the Road to Emmaus, pointing out how we tend to carry on in the same ways and seeing the same meaning to the stories we have heard for many years, whilst encouraging us to look for something new and how to contemplate on what can be new within the Mission Area and our roles within it.
Following the service, Revd Philip took the Annual Vestry, introducing us to Caroline, the new Parish Administrator (who will be working from the new office in our current choir vestry once the alterations are done) and to Andrew, the newly appointed MA Vicar's Warden. Philip invited people to stand for the MA People's Warden and also for people to join the MA Property sub-committee. (The Finance sub-committee is well on its way, |
with an MA treasurer and individual church treasurers involved.) People who are interested in these roles are asked to contact Philip before the next Conference which is mid-June.
It was a good time of meeting people one had never spoken with before as well as catching up with those from the Ruthin churches. A spectacular luncheon buffet was provided in the village hall and all the church annual reports, accounts etc were available for people to see. It was a great time of fellowship, praise and worship.
