Dyffryn Clwyd Mission Area Administrator – new arrival!
Hello … My name is Caroline Bennett and I have just been appointed to the new post of administrator to the Dyffryn Clwyd Mission Area, supporting the Mission Area Conference, the Executive and the Shared Ministry teams.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you, but meanwhile I thought it might help to give you a little bit of background about myself and the role I am undertaking.
I arrived in Llangynhafal last October and set about getting to know my new community. I attend the five churches within the Dyffryn Clwyd North group and have joined a number of local activities, including a walking group and the Open Circle. I enjoy footpath walking, reading, sacred choral music, long walks in the beautiful hills just above Llangynhafal and have an amateur interest in astronomy. I spent a number of my early years living on Anglesey and have enjoyed holidays in Dyffryn Clwyd over the years.

conversational at least on a basic level – and thank you to my neighbours and friends who have been really helpful and patient with all my mistakes!
I worked for the NHS before redundancy in 2011 in a patient information and advice service, and more recently as a GP receptionist. I have been fortunate to have had a working life with a great deal of variety, I have served in the armed forces and worked for the Citizens’ Advice national charity, as well as for local and central government, working with people to ensure they know where to go for help and advice when needed.
As mission area administrator, my role will be two-fold: first, the day to day office and administrative tasks which will hopefully help things run smoothly and free up time for the Shared Ministry Team and the executive members of the Mission Area Conference, so that they can focus on identified priorities, outreach and mission within the local churches and the communities across the Mission Area.
Secondly - and this may be the bigger challenge - to help foster good communication amongst and between the thirteen churches, providing a central hub whereby information can be sent to be shared and publicised. I will help to promote events, activities, etc. across the Mission Area, using the newly revamped web site (which looks really good) by liaising closely with Tony Howarth the webmaster.
I will also ensure that the more traditional means of communication are not overlooked. With that in mind, one of my first tasks will be to get to know key individuals across all the churches, so that you can get to know me and have a point of contact too.
As this role develops, newsletters and other means of sharing information will become available; but the post is only for ten hours per week and the first task will be to set up an office in the parish rooms St Peter’s Ruthin, including a dedicated telephone number, internet access etc. As soon as this happens, I will make sure that you have the telephone number, and information about how to contact me. There will be an answerphone during times when the office is closed, with information about opening hours, etc.
As I look forward to this new role I am very excited about what is happening in Dyffryn Clwyd mission area. I am looking forward to getting to know you all and hearing about your local community and church.
Best Regards
Caroline Bennett
